First ODI: Pakistan Beat Netherlands by 16 Runs

Pakistan defeated Netherlands by 16 runs in the first match of ODI series.

Chasing the target of 315 runs given by the national team, the home team managed to score 298 runs.

In this match played in Rotterdam, national team captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first.

After the first loss to the national team in the form of Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam made a partnership of 168 runs and led the national team towards a big total.

Fakhar Zaman scored his 7th career century while Babar Azam scored his 19th half-century.

Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 109 and Babar Azam scored 74 runs, but in the closing moments, thanks to Shadab Khan’s unbeaten 48 and Agha Salman’s 27 runs, the national team scored 314 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

Basdi Ledde and Logan van Beek took two wickets each for the Netherlands.

After the early dismissal of the first 3 players in pursuit of the target, the Dutch middle order played responsibly and took the match to the last over.

Vikramjeet Singh and Tom Cooper of the home team scored 65 and 65, while captain Scott Edwards played an unbeaten innings of 71 runs.

Pakistan debutant Naseem Shah and fast bowler Haris Rauf took 3, 3 wickets while Muhammad Wasim and Muhammad Nawaz got one wicket each.

On behalf of the national team, all-rounder Agha Salman and fast bowler Naseem Shah made their debut in ODI cricket today.

Naseem Shah was given debut cap by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Agha Salman by batting coach Mohammad Yousuf.

Captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Rizwan, Agha Salman, Khushdil Shah,

Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Wasim, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah were included in the team.

The national team trained hard for the match, but due to rain, the training was affected on the last day.

Pakistan is fifth in the World Cup Super League with 90 points, but can win the series 0-3 to finish second in the table.
